River Fieldwork & Hydrograph Modelling

What: CLPL for secondary geography teachers.

When: Saturday 3rd September 2022, 9:30am – 4:30pm

Where: Bute Building, University of St Andrews

Cost: Free – limited places available. Lunch provided.

Join GeoBus for a fantastic day of CLPL for secondary geography teachers.

Try out different equipment and techniques for data gathering, processing, interpreting, and analysing.  Discover what to look for when choosing a field site to use with your students, as well as practical options for what to measure and examine during your field trip.

In the morning, we’ll visit a nearby river to discuss practicalities of fieldwork and how to set up an investigation, as well as to test equipment in the field.  The river field site is within walking distance of the Bute Building.  After lunch we will set up equipment to model and interpret a hydrograph.

After the course, teachers will be able to arrange to borrow the equipment to use with their students.

River fieldwork skills and techniques will be linked to National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher specification requirements.  Hydrograph modelling and interpretation will support the requirements of the Higher Geography specification.

Places on this fully funded course are limited.  For further information or to book a place, please e-mail geobus@st-andrews.ac.uk and include the name of the course you would like to book.
